Monitoring and Controlling Noise from a Village Hall

monitoring and controlling the noise from a village hall

Village halls usually get a very varied usage, from tennis lessons to the weekly disco. Even practicing groups or any other type of amplified music, singing or speech can soon cause upset to the people the village hall is supposed to be serving.

The Bluebox noise monitor and controller should be installed between the mains power supply and the sockets that the village hall users power the amplifiers from. This gives the following advantages:

  • It is difficult to bypass the system.
  • Anybody using the hall is immediately aware if they are causing a noise problem and with the early warning system they can do something about it before it is too late.
  • The village hall manager or supervisor does not have to be present all the time. The music noise monitor will control the levels emitted.
  • The local residents can be involved in setting the most suitable noise level.

Setting the Level

The level can be adjusted by opening the front cover (using a key) to access the control. Accurate equipment can be used to set the level but it is often much more useful to select the level by ear, with the agreement of the local residents or the whoever is responsible for law enforcement or environmental health.
